Ironworker (Journeyperson and 3rd/4th Year Apprentice)

Nason Mechanical is currently seeking applications for Journeyperson or 3rd/4th Year Apprentice Ironworkers for exciting opportunities in the Wood Buffalo Region, AB (north of Fort McMurray and in the Anzac area).


Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:


·        unload and stack steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed

·        erect and install scaffolding, construction cranes, derricks and other hoisting equipment

·        assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks) to move heavy equipment and materials

·        attach cables from a crane or derrick and direct crane operators with hand signals or radios

·        position steel units, align holes and insert temporary bolts

·        assemble and erect pre-fabricated metal structures

·        Ensuring safe work practices, EH&S processes, and OH&S compliance are followed on site


Desired Skills and Experience:


• To be considered for this position you must be a registered Journeyperson in the trade of Ironworker – Structural/Ornamental or you are a registered 3rd or 4th year Apprentice in good standing with your provincial apprenticeship board.  

• Experience on major industrial project sites 

• A positive attitude towards safety is expected and imperative 

• Valid class 5 driver’s license

• Excellent verbal communication skills

• Strong leadership and organization skills

• Have CSTS-09, OSSA Regional Orientation ticket or OSSA Basic Safety Orientation ticket, OSSA Fall Protection, OSSA EWP, OSSA Confined Space


All candidates must be able to produce a negative result on a drug & alcohol test.
