Wastewater Treatment

Nason Contacting Group began this one-year project. Part of the scope involved the installation of over $1.8 million in equipment from three separate owner-supplied contracts.

The project scope involved upgrades to the entire wastewater plant, with a primary focus on the headworks area and the installation of a new DAF building. Upgrades to the headworks area of the plant included demolition of the existing bar screens and grit tanks in order to install new fine screens and vortex grit separators. DAF building construction required a train of RBCs to be decommissioned and disposed of before the new DAF tanks could be placed and a building erected around the units. Other smaller upgrades were made around the plant including aeration upgrades to the ATAD area, the installation of a WAS box in the AS-BNR tanks, and new pipelines throughout the water plant, wastewater plant, and the tunnels connected the facilities.

Nason Contracting Group partnered up with CH2M Hill Consulting Ltd. for a design-build project for the District of Lillooet. Lillooet required an update to their wastewater treatment system, as they were no longer meeting requirements.

The project generally consisted of the construction of the concrete foundations and building superstructure, construction of new reservoirs and tanks, installation of Salnes filters, and all mechanical and electrical installations. Nason Contracting Group Ltd. and CH2M Hill worked closely together throughout the project to ensure that this was a successful design-build project.

The project involved process treatment upgrades to the existing plant and the installation of new treatment equipment. Major components of the work involved the installation of new headworks equipment, construction of an aerobic sludge digester, thickener, centrifuge, and new pumps in the primary and secondary clarifiers.

Existing Rotating Biological Contactors were modified as well as installation of new blower and phosphorous removal system.

Nason Contracting Group teamed up with Associated Engineering to construct a state of the art sewage treatment facility in Southshore for M.D. 124 Lesser Slave River.

Utilizing Zenon membranes, the facilities effluent is the cleanest possible with today's technology and will meet the demands of the community for the foreseeable future while protecting the environment.
